About the Artist

Most of my paintings are influenced by the natural world but I do not attempt to copy nature. It is the shapes, patterns and colors of nature that inspire me. I come to each painting with very few preconceived ideas. As I work through a painting I am constantly making decisions about color, design, mood and emotional impact. My goal is to create art that others enjoy looking at as much as I enjoy producing it.

I teach classes and workshops in Acrylic painting and also painting with watercolor on Yupo. This is a smooth, synthetic paper that allows the paint to float on the surface creating unusual effects

A signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, I also belong to the Louisville Art Association and the Broomfield Art Guild in Colorado. My work has appeared in national shows in Colorado, North Carolina and South Carolina as well as local and regional shows. They are held in corporate, university and private collections

Paintings and Poetry

The Swing

September 24, 2015

When I was approached by Catherine Galascione about a project she had in mind I readily accepted. Catherine is the daughter of Angela Galascione, a dear friend of mine and fellow artist who passed away several years ago. Catherine had written a suite of poems about her mother and suggested I could interpret them with a painting. I selected a few that spoke to me and have done my best to illustrate the emotion I find in these poems.

I lived near the ocean in North Carolina for ten years and Angela and I shared many happy times together, painting and just enjoying each other's company.

As time went on, Catherine was inspired to write some poetry about a selection of my paintings. So this project works both ways. It is fun to see her interpretation of my creations.

Summer Moon

The edges of the moon are lost in summer's haze.....

In the Shadow of the Uncompahgre

...light captured...like a vein of gold...
